"O Lord, how many are my foes! How many rise up against me! Many are saying of me, 'God will not deliver him.' But you are a shield around me, O Lord; you bestow glory on me and lift up my head. To the Lord I cry aloud, and he answers me from his holy hill. I lie down and sleep; I wake again, because the Lord sustains me, I will not fear the tens of thousands drawn up against me on every side. Arise, O Lord! Deliver me, O my God! Strike all my enemies on the jaw; break the teeth of the wicked. From the Lord comes deliverance. May your blessing be on your people." Psalm 3
My dear friend Jen sent me this verse recently and today I looked at the commentary and really prayed over it. What an amazing verse! Stephen and I feel like it really speaks to our situation right now. Obviously, not exactly what David went through, but we feel God speaking to us through it.
We have so many well intentioned people, who we know care for us and are looking out for our best interest, tell us they can't believe our builders. "How can they just keep dragging y'all along? They should give you this, that or the other for free after all they have put you through!" We know what they mean. We have felt the same things at times but we also are choosing to focus on what God wants us to see in this situation. He wants us to extend grace and see not only ourselves but other people. There is a company, a family, employees that are affected by this. We are just waiting on a house, they are doing everything they can to not lose everything. We still feel that God lead us to this house and this time and He will not leave us here. He will deliver us.
We received further confirmation today from an email we got from our agent, Hope. Here is part of what she said.
"A builder I spoke to has been in business for 10 years and built luxury homes ($500K+) until last year. Now, he’s working on one house and doing remodeling jobs to keep him and his team from going bankrupt. He said that for the last 4-5 years, he’s had a business mastermind group with four other local builders, as a way to keep each other accountable on how their businesses were doing. As of last month, my friend is the only builder still in business. All three of the others ended up declaring bankruptcy because they couldn’t get construction loans any more.
My friend, said that if he or the other builders had been able to get some kind of private funding, it would have been a very different story. But since all of the money is controlled by the banks, they didn’t have any other options.
After he told me all of that, I took a deep breath and said a quick “thank you” prayer to God for bringing a private investor for your builder. Otherwise, they wouldn’t be finishing your house (hopefully in May)."
So thankful for a light at the end of our tunnel. Praying the same for our builders!
